LIW - LOSS IN WEIGHT FEEDERS

Thayer Scale, with nearly seventy years of experience, offers the broadest range of loss in weight feeder systems of any manufacturer. Each of our high-performing loss-in-weight feeders provides precision-class accuracy and repeatability in demanding and strenuous process environments.

Thayer Scale’s loss-in-weight feeders come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and can incorporate various volumetric feeding devices to suit the process’s material-handling characteristics and flow rates. (Flow rates may be as slow as two grams/minute and as fast as 100,000 pounds/hour.) We offer a powerful set of proprietary add-on accessories designed to solve problematic flow issues, such as bridging, flushing, adhesion, and cohesion. In addition, our instrumentation has powerful software routines specifically aimed at optimizing a feeder’s performance, such as output compensation, disturbance control, linearization, temperature compensation, and automated calibrations.

VOLUMETRIC FEEDERS

Thayer Scale durable and long-lasting volumetric feeders are specifically designed to feed difficult powders such as TiO2, talc and calcium carbonate, and to address the flooding and bridging problems posed by many other powders.

Our innovative and high-quality volumetric feeders offer:

  • A unique feeder trough that deaerates and confines powder at the initial fill cycle to prevent flooding
  • An independently-driven agitator that conditions the material and introduces it to the feed screw with a consistent density
  • Feeders that disassemble easily (tool-free) for thorough cleaning, eliminating contamination problems which often occur when changing materials
  • Heavy-gauge 304 stainless steel as a standard offering (316 stainless steel is also available)
  • Customized screw lengths and special designs to facilitate operation over a wide operating range with both heavy- and light-density materials

MSF Volumetric Screw Feeder

The Thayer Model MSF is designed for fast, easy and thorough clean out. Feeder completely disassembles without tools in less than one minute. High quality, rugged, stainless steel construction assures years of reliable, trouble free operation even in the most severe industrial environments. The unique combination of vertical-wall supply hopper, preconditioning trough/chamber containing a special horizontal agitator (optional), accounts for the Model MSF superior performance and reliability.

WEIGH BELT FEEDERS

Rugged, reliable belt feeders combined with current controls technology provide reliable and highly accurate weighing of your materials. Our weigh belt feeders eliminate extraneous forces and dead loads prior to weighing through our FMSS Force Mass Measurement System. We only measure your material!

For improved containment of products being weighed we offer a scavenger conveyor below to catch any dribble or drift.  Options include screw or drag conveyor.  Conveyor can run constantly, on timer or by chute sensor.  A dust evacuation nozzle above the weigh belt feeder can be connected to a local or plantwide collection system.
